Clifton Melvin
President
Clifton was elected as president in July 2010 after having been Chairman of the club from September 2006. He will continue his work with our local council to seek more grounds for the club.
A Spurs fan, like his predecessor Barry Plested, he appreciates the beautiful game and understands how to lose as well as win! High on his agenda is the challenge of expanding the facilities and infrastructure at CCYFC as the club enjoys an ever increasing membership.

His involvement with the club began when his elder son Simon started playing in Barry’s team in the mid ‘90’s and Clifton began to help with coaching and refereeing when his younger son Tim began playing. He then assisted Roger Killick with coaching when Simon played in Roger’s team. Not having played football since the age of 11 he decided a refresher course was a good idea and in March 2001 successfully completed the Junior Team Manager’s course.

In the summer of 2001, a group of then U 11 parents decided to start a new 11-a-side team and Clifton was “volunteered” to manage Chorleywood Phoenix as he had the coaching qualification! His organising and delegating instincts came to the fore as he co-opted 4 other parents to help run the team. In 2005 he initiated the development of the club’s website, which he sees as crucial to the way we manage CCYFC and communicate with each other.

Clifton has enjoyed a successful career in financial services, having been the Chief Executive of insurance companies in both Spain and the UK. He is currently a Director of AIM-listed company Just Retirement plc and Chairman of EcoHydra Technologies Limited.
